Tragic: Six die in road accidents
Seven members of a family injured on Burewala Road
OKARA/VEHARI/PAKPATTAN/FAISALABAD:
Six people died and nine were injured in road accidents in various districts on Sunday and Monday.
Police said three people died and one was injured in an accident involving a car and a tractor trolley near the Renala Bypass on Monday. The three deceased were travelling from Lahore to Bahawalnagar in a car when a tractor trolley rammed into the vehicle. The tractor trolley driver then drove off.
Police said three passengers, Muhammad Hassan, Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Zafar, had died on the spot and the car’s driver was seriously injured. The bodies were taken to a hospital for autopsy. Police said the driver was being treated at the hospital.
“We have registered a case against the tractor trolley driver,” the police spokesperson said.
In Pakpattan, two men riding a motorcycle died near Chak 40-EB. Police said Noor Nabi and his friend Waqas, residents of Chak 38-EB, were on their way to Chak 40-EB on a motorcycle. Nabi, who was driving the motorcycle, lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into a donkey cart. Police said Nabi had died before he could be treated. They took Waqas to the Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
During Eid holidays: Four killed on road in Chakwal
In Faisalabad, a woman passenger on a motorcycle died after a speeding car hit their vehicle near Babar Cinema. Police said Malik Lateef and his wife Ayesha Parveen, residents of Islampura, Jaranwala, were on their way to Faisalabad city on a motorcycle. A car rammed into them at Chenab Chowk, near Babar Cinema, and sped away.
Parveen was seriously injured and was taken to Allied Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The body was later handed over to her family for burial.
In Vehari, seven members of a family were injured in a road accident near Chak 5-WB, on Burewala Road. Rescue-1122 officials said, Zahoor Ahmad, his wife and children were on their way home from Lahore in a van. They collided with a rickshaw on Burewala Road. All seven members of the family were badly injured and were taken to the DHQ Hospital, Rescue-1122 officials said.
