Medical education: PMDC to overhaul admission policy
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to revise the admission policy for public and private medical and dental colleges. The new policy will aim to induct students purely on merit. According to an official of PMDC, the entrance test for medical and dental colleges would be centralised at the provincial and federal levels. He added that the colleges would follow the merit list to be issued by their affiliated university after taking the entrance test. They hope that this will help discourage substandard medical education and doctors in the country. The body is also hoping to change the curriculum so that it is in line with professional demands of doctors.
