Paying tributes: K-P CM pays condolence visits
Minister said they had come on behalf of both the PTI chairperson Imran Khan and the K-P government
KARACHI:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak arrived in Karachi to offer condolences to the family of deceased philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi on Sunday.
Khattak, who arrived in the city on Sunday morning, went to the Edhi Village to visit Edhi’s grave along with senior provincial government members Mushtaq Ghani and Asad Qaiser as well as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi leaders Arif Alvi and Haleem Adil Sheikh.
Khattak, who later visited the family of the deceased at the Edhi Centre in Mithadar, expressed full support to the Edhi Foundation in K-P.
While addressing the media, the CM said they had come on behalf of both the PTI chairperson Imran Khan and the K-P government.
He added that the provincial government plans to donate land to Edhi centres across the province and has also directed all district governments to facilitate such moves.
Praising the efforts of the late philanthropist, he said the Edhi Foundation is the best social organisation in the country and his government would like to support and facilitate it.
Later, Khattak also visited the residence of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri in Liaquatabad to offer condolences to his family. “His murder is highly condemnable and to trace his murderer is a challenge for the Sindh government,” he said, adding that Sabri made Pakistan proud through his voice and music. Khattak said it is very sad that people spreading love are being killed in such a heinous manner.
Alvi said regardless of the nature of incident, Edhi was always the first to reach the scene of the incident. “Edhi’s life and contribution [of donating his eyes] has set an example, not only for Pakistan but for the whole world to follow,” he said.
