13 development projects approved
Development projects worth Rs5,984 get approval from provincial development working party.
KARACHI:
Thirteen development projects worth more than Rs5,984 million have been approved by the provincial development working party (PDWP) at a meeting held on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Chief Economist Dr Masood Kazi at P&D Committee Room.
These projects were already cleared at the technical committee meeting held the other day. Dr Kazi directed the officials concerned to rationalise all the schemes according to the observations made by the technical committee and then forward them to the PDWP for approval.
He also recommended that while devising any development schemes, the funds available should be kept in mind. Because of the flood that hit the province end of July last year, any future project requiring more than Rs100 million would have to be approved by the Sindh chief minister first. Unnecessary expenditure has to be cut down, he added.
The projects approved include four road-sector schemes, worth Rs1,400 million, and a project to build a 100 MGD pump station at Dhabeji at a cost of Rs1,117 million.
Under the Access to Justice programme of residential and other development works for Sindh high court judges, Rs142 million have been approved under the federal government budget allocation.
Other projects include construction of Pir Elahi Bux Law College in Dadu at a cost of Rs82 million, construction of Cadet College Khairpur Nathan Shah at Rs530 million and Sindh Skill Development Programme at Rs2,876 million.
