HYDERABAD:
The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) has predicted accelerated action against alleged corrupt elements in the Sindh government in the coming days. The party’s vice-president for Sindh, Pir Yasir Shah Rashidi, told media in Hyderabad on Friday that arrests of allegedly corrupt officials are likely to increase, creating trouble for the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“The incumbent government has failed to address the problems of Sindh,” he asserted, pointing out health, education and employment as some of the sectors where the government has failed to come up to the people’s expectations.

Agitation: ‘Anti-corruption drive after Eid’

He said the PML-F-led grand alliance of opposition parties in Sindh is also going to up the ante against the PPP government. He said the future of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) appears doomed. “The MQM has become a victim of internal split,” he claimed.

He asked the provincial government to take preventive measures to avoid harm to the lives and assets of the people from the impending flood, which is expected to crop up during the upcoming monsoon rains in the province.
