Unity led to success: Mohsin

The chief selector also praised the performance of the young players.

KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Selector Mohsin Khan credited the series win over New Zealand to team unity after Pakistan won by 41 runs to gain an unassailable 3-1 lead after the fifth One-Day International (ODI).  Khan said that Pakistan played like a unit and each member played a part in the triumph.

“The best thing was the team played like a unit,” Khan told The Express Tribune. “The credit should go to the team management who united the team well.”

Khan, a former Test batsman, also felt the win set the tone for the World Cup. “The victory is definitely a morale booster irrespective of the differences in conditions in New Zealand and the sub-continent.

“The team has found its right combination which is a good sign before the mega event.”

The chief selector also praised the performance of the young players.

“The selection committee took a calculated risk by including youngsters which finally paid-off.

“The return of Younus Khan and Misbahul Haq strengthened the middle-order.”

‘Team needs to curb extras’

Meanwhile, former Pakistan wicket-keeper Saleem Yousuf said the bowling attack has done a commendable job.

“The team’s bowling was impressive throughout the series,” said Yousuf.

However, Yousuf felt the bowlers needed to control the number of extras they conceded.
