It is commonly observed that ATMs stop working during the first week of each month

ISLAMABAD:

The federal ombudsman of Pakistan has directed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to ensure availability of cash and security at all Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

Taking cognisance of the miseries of thousands of overseas Pakistanis visiting their families to celebrate Eid at home and government and private-sector employees who are rushing to get the money from ATMs, he instructed the SBP to take appropriate remedial measures. In a letter to the SBP governor, Senior Adviser (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar pointed out that it was being observed that the ATMs either did not work or were out of cash.

There are frequent complaints about poor functioning of ATMs. It is commonly observed that ATMs stop working during the first week of each month. He asked the SBP governor to ensure the availability of cash and security at all ATMs during Eidul Fitr holidays.
