‘Pakistan safest country in terms of food security’

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Nazar Muhammad Gondal on Thursday has claimed that Pakistan is the safest country in terms of food security as production of the main food crops was much more than the actual consumption.

Addressing a press conference on food situation of the country at the Press Information Department (PID), he termed as ridiculous all reports that claim Pakistan was among the countries vulnerable to food security and said they were far from the facts.

Gondal said that the production of staple foods including wheat, rice, gram pulse, potato, sugar, maize, tomatoes and milk was in surplus so there was no question of food shortage in the country.
