HARIPUR:

Residents of Sera-e-Saleh village protested against power outages and blocked GT Road on Monday. Led by former union nazim Wajahat Shah, hundreds of enraged villagers blocked GT Road and suspended traffic on both sides of the artery.

Due to the protest, commuters remained stranded for hours, while several women and elderly people also fell unconscious due to the hot weather.

Protesters shouted slogans against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company. They said load-shedding had made their lives miserable and created hardships for villagers.

They also criticised local MNA Babar Nawaz Khan for not fulfilling promises made during the election campaign.

However, Haripur Deputy Commissioner Taslim Khan reached the site and assured the protesters their grievances would be addressed. After negotiations, the villagers dispersed peacefully and the road was cleared for traffic.
