RAWALPINDI: The city police has finalised a security plan for Eidul Fitr congregations.

Under the security plan chalked out for the city, about 6,000 armed policemen will be deployed outside mosques, imambargahs and open places to provide security to the worshippers.

While 2,000 police officials would be assigned in Murree and special package would be announced for those who would perform their duties to protect motorists and to keep the flow of traffic smooth.

Talking to the APP, the City Police Officer (CPO), Israr Ahmed Abbasi, on Sunday said security arrangements had been finalised and said additional police personnel had been deployed particularly to cover main city markets, mosques and Eid congregations.

He said policemen deployed on security duty should have metal detectors to search the participants. Walk through gates should be installed at important places where the congregations are to be held.

Abbasi said that special directives had been issued to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas.
