I will wait till the end for Fariha: Nouman Javaid
Despite distances, singer remains positive he will succeed in making amends with estranged wife
LAHORE:
It has been nearly three months since the news of Nouman Javaid’s ‘accident’ and hospitalisation surfaced, with the singer later confessing to a suicide attempt. Whatever reasons may have pushed him to the edge, things have continued to remain quiet between him and estranged wife, singer Fariha Parvaiz.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Nouman shared that despite the distances that exist at present, he remains optimistic about his relationship and is willing to put in every effort to keep holding on.
“I am sure that I will be successful in maintaining my marriage because I have never thought of anyone else other than her,” said the singer, adding, “I will wait till the end for Fariha.”
He shared that he has yet to receive a positive response from Fariha who is currently in the US for unspecified reasons. “I remain committed to convincing her and some sincere friends and relatives are supporting me in this regard. I am not about to change my decision because of a few misunderstandings; this is the only thing on my agenda right now.”
According to the Dard-e-Tanhai crooner, he has been pursuing Fariha, trying to convince her to speak to him but she continues to remain aloof. Nouman consumed sleeping pills in March, causing a near fatal overdose that forced doctors to keep him hospitalised for several days till he made complete recovery. He had initially denied any disputes with his wife, especially after rumours surfaced that the two were in a rough patch over property and finance related issues.
Nouman shared that he has been combating depression since the episode, but has also started focusing on his work. “I am completely fit now, with my mind set on my career,” he said. “I released a naat last Ramazan but unfortunately was unable to do so this year. However, soon after Eid, I am planning to release a song which I am currently working on. It will be titled Sara and is an interesting fusion of Arabic music and Urdu poetry.”
The video is being shot at different locations across Lahore, and similar to his previous songs, the latest offering too is a romantic number. “I wrote and composed this track all by myself, and will be giving a romantic touch to the video as well,” he said, adding that model Sadia Faisal will be the female lead of the forthcoming project. “I sure hope that people will appreciate my efforts, as this is the first song I’ll be releasing following my illness,” said Nouman.
The singer also plans on venturing towards the silver screen in the near future. He said that once he wraps up work for Sara, he will focus entirely on his debut film project. “It has been my dream to produce a good film for years now. If I succeed, I will continue making both films and songs,” he shared. “At present, I am completing the script and finalising the cast. Hopefully, by September my film will go on the floors primarily in Lahore and other parts in Punjab.”
He repeatedly emphasised focusing solely on good quality work, and also revealed that he is done composing all the songs for the movie. “Singing is also my dream. It gives me an opportunity to directly interact and connect with public so besides producing films, I will also be doing more singing projects this year,” he added.
