Pending Salaries: Journalists assured of help
all necessary measures would be taken to ensure timely payment of salaries to all media workers
ISLAMABAD:
Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Secretary Syed Imran Gardezi has said that issues being faced by journalists would be resolved on priority basis. He was talking to a delegation of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) who met him here on Friday here Friday. The secretary assured the RIUJ office-bearers that the ministry would work with the journalists’ community to help resolve their issues. Matters pertaining to pending salaries of workers of a TV channel and newspapers, wage board award and other issues came under discussion. The secretary also constituted a committee to sort out a mechanism to pursue the case of pending salaries of journalists working in different media organisations. The secretary said that the committee would take up the matter with owners of media houses for immediate payment of outstanding dues to workers. He said that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure timely payment of salaries to all media workers.
