India test fired a new surface-to-air missile, developed jointly with Israel, from a defence base off Odisha coast on Thursday, Times of India reported.
A DRDO official claimed that the medium range missile (MR-SAM), a joint venture of India and Israel, was launched using a mobile launcher in the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.
"The test launch was a grand success and it met all the targets," the officer said.

The missile was initially scheduled to be tested on Wednesday, however, was postponed due to unknown reasons.
The surface-to-air missile was launched after receiving signal from radars to intercept a moving aerial target with the help of an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) 'Banshee' over the Bay of Bengal.
According to reports, the system comprises of features, including a Multi Functional Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar (MF STAR) in order to detect, track and guide the missile.
Pakistan says "seriously concerned" by India's missile tests
"The missile along with MF-STAR will provide the users with the capability to neutralise any aerial threats," a Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist stated.
The scientist further revealed that the missile was developed by Indian Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
