Karachi, Hyderabad receive first Monsoon rains
A senior meteorologist on the condition of anonymity told The Express Tribune that the chances of flash flooding during the current rainy spell were slim. “However, we expect the rainfall activity to increase around Eid and there would be heavy downpours which could generate flash flooding in nullahs, streams among others,” he said.
Monsoon rain cripples Karachi
According to the weatherman, waxing and waning of rainfall during the monsoon season is a normal phenomenon, and keeps taking place at regular intervals, adding it is expected that weather would remain pleasant during next week and people would enjoy Eid holidays. The meteorologist urged people to take precautionary measures while travelling to hilly areas during Eid holidays due to possible landslides. He also warned of the possible spread of diseases like dengue, gastroenteritis, hepatitis A, E, diarrhoea, if precautionary measures were not taken well in time.
