PESHAWAR:
K-P IGP Nasir Khan Durrani suspended three police officials on Monday for faulty investigation in a murder case and ordered a departmental action against them. A Peshawar resident submitted an application to the IGP and requested him to arrest a suspect in his sister’s murder. However, he said, the police failed to make a breakthrough in the case.

The woman’s husband also lodged a report at Sarband police station over disappearance of his wife, who went to get money from Benazir Income Support Programme, but did not return.

Later, the brother lodged a report against his brother-in-law and other suspects identified as Israr Ali and Gohar for kidnapping his sister. The body of the woman was ultimately found buried in Karak. However, the police failed to make any meaningful progress.

The IGP nominated the SSP investigation and directed him to probe the matter in order to pin responsibility for criminal negligence or faulty investigation. The enquiry officer held sub inspectors Anwar Khan and Marjan Ali of Sarband police station and sub inspector Shamim Khan of Khurram police station in Karak responsible for the faulty investigation. He also recommended action against them.

The IGP, in light of the report of SSP investigation, suspended the police officials with immediate effect and ordered departmental action against them.
