TV actor and host Fakhr-e-Alam tendered on Monday his resignation from the post of Sindh Board of Film Censors chairman, citing personal reasons.

The actor's resignation came days after he uploaded a video message on Facebook, demanding the same level of security that is generally reserved for government officials. The move came after Amjad Sabri’s unexpected killing in Karachi.

“I Fakhr-e-Alam submit my resignation from the position of chairman Sindh Board of Film Censorship because of personal reasons and hereby relinquish my charge with immediate effect,” read the actor’s resignation which he posted on Twitter.

Fakhr-e-Alam’s demand for security of artists leaves entertainment industry divided

“I was appointed on MP 1 status which entitled me to a salary, home allowance, official vehicle etc, however I did not take any benefit financial or otherwise whatsoever and performed my duties voluntarily,” Alam said in his letter.
