RCB no-trust move: Members all set to vote out Raja Jahandad today
Elected members have accused RCB vice president of failure to provide funds
RAWALPINDI:
Elected members of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) are all set to vote out Vice President Raja Jahandad today (Monday).
Station Commander Brigadier Syed Hassan Raza, as president of the RCB had called the special meeting of the board members on June 27, to decide on the no-confidence motion moved against Jahandad.
Eleven elected members of the RCB on June 20th filed the no-trust motion against the vice president.
Under the cantonment laws 1924, the elected members will have to either vote for or against the no-confidence motion.
Discussions with different RCB elected members have revealed that they were ready to vote out Jahandad and they would all attend the special board meeting.
“We are united and we will attend the meeting. We will vote against the vice president,” said a member.
He said that they took the decision to move the no-confidence motion against Jahandad after thorough considerations and deliberations.
The member said that there was no question that the move would fail.
Another member told The Express Tribune that all members would have sehri together on Monday before coming for the board meeting.
All efforts for reconciliation between the vice-president and the members had failed.
Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed tried to convince the elected members to drop the no-confidence move against Jahandad but the effort failed to bear fruit.
The elected members had complaints of bad behaviour and poor performance against Jahandad.
They said that behaviour of the vice president had antagonised the RCB administration.
They said that the vice president had also failed to provide development funds for their respective wards.
Jahandad, who was sworn in as the RCB vice-president on July 15, 2015, on the other hand, had blamed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) National Assembly Member Malik Abrar Ahmed for the no-confidence motion against him.
The MNA however had publically denied his role in the move against the RCB vice-president.
