Protest: ‘Delay Ramazan Mubarik Polio Campaign’
The protesters said sending polio workers door-to-door to vaccinate children in scorching weather was inhuman
BAHAWALPUR:
Polio workers in Sadiqabad staged a demonstration on Sunday against the Ramazan Mubarik Polio Campaign scheduled to start on June 28. They have held several protests on the issue in the last few days. Hundreds of men and women polio workers, led by Begum Rana Khursheed, held the demonstration in front of the office of the Sadiqabad deputy district health officer. They held placards and shouted slogans against the government. The protesters said sending polio workers door-to-door to vaccinate children in scorching weather was inhuman. “Why can’t this be postponed till after Ramazan? It’s not possible for us to fast and work in such weather,” Khursheed said. They demanded that the polio campaign be delayed till after Eidul Fitr.
