Encroachment: Court disposes of Liaquat Jatoi’s petition
Sindh High Court disposes petition filed gainst alleged encroachment on cultivated land in Mahar.
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court disposed of a petition filed by Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi and his family against alleged encroachment on cultivated land in Mahar.
A division bench comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Imam Bux Baloch gave the order on Wednesday after perusing reports submitted by the revenue Mukhtiarkar and the third civil judge/judicial magistrate. The reports said that the land was under cultivation and in possession of the petitioners.
The petitioners — Liaquat Jatoi, his son Karim Ali Jatoi and brother Kabir Ali Khan Jatoi — moved the court alleging that Dadu police and their political rivals, Sardar Chandio and Burhan Chandio, have encroached upon their lands and standing crops with the help of notorious dacoits belonging to the Chandio tribe.
During the previous hearing, the bench sought reports from the revenue and judicial officer.
On Wednesday, the counsel for the private respondents denied the charges. He said that his clients have not interfered with the petitioners’ land and will not do so in the future. The counsel said, however, that there is an ownership dispute between the two parties and it needs to be resolved at a proper forum.
Advising the two parties to resolve this issue, the bench ordered the respondents to refrain from harassing the petitioners or interfering in the land. It also ordered the police to protect the petitioners according to the law.
