LAHORE:
The Royal Palm Super Cinema ceased operating on Saturday in the wake of the exclusive country club being sealed.

The development does not bode well for cinegoers who used to throng to the 3D cinema. A heavy police contingent had sealed the club and directed Super Cinema employees to vacate the venue. Some employees had staged a protest demonstration against the action, worrying that expensive equipment there was at police’s mercy.

Royal Palm decided on Saturday to close the cinema. According to sources close to the management, the establishment would remain closed till Eid. The cinema was slated to screen Shahrukh Khan’s Raees and Salman Khan’s Sultan over the festive timeframe. The multiplex—equipped with 3D technology—three screens.

The establishment can accommodate a maximum of 250 people at any given time.

The multiplex boasts comfortable seats and state-of-art sound systems. “Super Cinema is closed.

It may not be in a position to screen films this Eid. We had selected Raees (and Sultan) for Eid,” Royal Palm Super Cinema PRO Waryam Iqbal said.

The closure of the establishment marks the first time a cinema would remain closed during the lucrative Eid season.
