KARACHI:
The provincial government presented on Saturday 42 demands for grants of the supplementary budget of Rs44.70 billion for financial year 2015-2016.
The demands were presented by finance senior minister Murad Ali Shah. Members of the opposition parties objected to the government demands to pass supplementary budget for the outgoing year and moved 114 cut motions to reduce at least Rs1.59 billion from the supplementary budget.
"Unnecessary demands have been moved here and the government has spent most of this budget for purchasing cars, furniture and on other expenditures," said Sheharyar Mahar of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional.
The house discussed and approved one demand out of a total of 42 demands. All 44 cut motions moved by Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmakers were rejected.
