Close call: JUP leader escapes attack

Police officials confirmed that Anjum's car was fired upon and said that the incident was being investigated

KARACHI:
Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) leader Aqeel Anjum escaped an attack on his car in Zaman Town, Korangi, on Saturday. "We were heading home after offering prayers when four armed men on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire at our car," said Anjum's aide, Asfandyar Khan, who was driving the car.  Police officials confirmed that Anjum's car was fired upon and said that the incident was being investigated from different angles. "We have yet to ascertain how the incident occurred," said Korangi Industrial Area SHO Shahjahan Lashari.
