Ban on pillion riding
Meanwhile, the Sindh government announced on Saturday to impose a ban on pillion riding in view of the law and order situation during Yaum-e-Ali. The ban, advised for Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur, will come into force on Sunday and remain in place till June 28. A notification issued by the Sindh home department exempted women and children below the age of 12 years, aged or disabled citizens, journalists and law enforcement officials from the restriction.
Karachi has been witnessing a volatile law and order situation after the recent killing of qawwali maestro Amjad Sabri and abduction of Sindh High Court Chief Justice's son in the city. The government had previously imposed a ban on pillion riding on March 1 following the execution of Mumtaz Qadri, the self-confessed killer of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.
