African region: PBIF presses on exploring new markets
PBIF President said the government and private sector could focus on landlocked African countries
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) President Mian Zahid Hussain has demanded the government to discover new markets to improve exports. “A double-digit fall in exports has raised many concerns and necessitates serious efforts to find new markets like Africa,” he said. “The government should facilitate the opening of a direct channel of communication and cooperation between Pakistan and businessmen from Africa; the second largest continent in the world with 54 sovereign states and a collective GDP of $2.3 trillion,” he added. He said the government and private sector could focus on landlocked African countries like Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, Central African Republic, South Sudan and Uganda with a population base of around 200 million.
