Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said that Malik had proved himself as an adept political figure, ambassador and army personnel.

Being a politician, he reshaped the political course of history not only of India but Pakistan as well and his political achievements made him a torch bearer for others, he added.

As an ambassador, Malik demonstrated the role that should be played by a representative for the country and when he joined the army, through his dedication, honesty and wisdom he reached the level of lieutenant general, Ahmad stated.

Due to poor living conditions he would go to school barefoot, but through his various abilities and dedication became a successful individual, MNA Tahir Iqbal said.

The government should include achievements and contributions of such personalities in curriculum so that future generations can know about their national heroes, AHAP Chairman Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi stated.

He also called for a 14-kilometre-long road in Chakwal, the place where Malik was born, to be named in his honour as ‘Shahrah-i-Abdul Majeed Malik.’
