LAHORE:

Those affiliated with the arts are the first to be targets [of terrorists], Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Syed Ali Zafar said on Thursday. “Qawal Amjad Sabri’s assassination comes as a shock to the entire nation…it is a huge loss to the art and sufi culture of our country.”

Zafar was speaking to journalists after a meeting of the SCBA where members discussed recent acts of extremism and terrorism in Karachi. They also spoke about the abduction of Sindh High Court chief justice’s son Barrister Ovais Ali Shah. Zafar said the legal fraternity is one in grief with the SHC chief justice and they were praying for his swift recovery.

The SCBA president said coordination between the Sindh IG, the Rangers director general and other law enforcement agencies was crucial. They need to work together to implement a strategy that could prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
