The coordinator to Sindh chief minister for human rights, Nadia Gabol, paid a surprise visit on Tuesday to the city's different food bazaars and checked the quality, price and supply of edible items according to the government's prescribed rates for Ramazan.

Accompanied by Lyari assistant commissioner Ubaidullah, Gabol visited different markets of District South such as Lea Market, Kumharwara and Bakra Piri and spoke to the shopkeepers and consumers about the price and quality of daily use items.

On the occasion, several shopkeepers and fruit vendors were warned not to overcharge their customers on edible items during Ramazan, otherwise strict action will be taken by the government.

She explained that the Sindh government kept a vigilant eye on the prices of essential commodities, especially for the month of Ramazan, in order to provide relief to the people.

Talking to the media after the visit, she said that efforts to provide relief to the people will continue throughout Ramazan.

"Positive results are emerging from the government's Ramazan package for supplying edible items at cheaper rates," she said.

She added that the subsidy given under the Ramazan package by the chief minister was aimed at providing relief to the people.

The government has bound the district government to ensure the edible items are always available in the markets, she said.
