In the dark: PML-N incensed over Daniyal Aziz news conference
PML-N is a party of feudal lords who are not ready to devolve powers
PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers have expressed reservations over a recent press conference organised by its party member Daniyal Aziz in the city. A majority of worker said Aziz did not take party office-bearers onboard before talking to the media.
They said the party’s central leadership had for the second time ignored provincial party members and did not bother informing the latter about the news conference. Provincial leaders said PML-N’s central leadership was bypassing them and district activists.
“This will lead to the disintegration and grouping in the party,” a senior PML-N leader said. The office-bearer said Aziz, like a few others, was a paratrooper and had recently joined the party.
“It is the second time that Danyal Aziz ignored the provincial and district party leadership,” the provincial leader said. The central leadership must take notice of this as the exercise has discouraged workers in the province.”
PML-N K-P Senior Vice President Waqif Khan also quipped in and said Aziz violated party discipline.
Democracy at risk, says Aziz
He said this was a rather serious matter as all those who were leading the party in Peshawar district were kept in the dark.
K-P Senior Vice President from Batkhela, Ahmad Zada Khan, stated Aziz issued a deadline and warned that party workers would launch a movement after Eid in K-P. “Who will be taking to the streets? Aziz? Or party workers from the district and province?” Khan questioned.
On the other hand, Prime Minister’s Adviser Amir Muqam said this was not a party meeting, but rather a moot between district nazims.
Unpopular in K-P
Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan also slammed Daniyal Aziz for criticising the K-P local government and filing a petition in court.
“PML-N is a party of feudal lords who are not ready to devolve powers to local government representatives in Punjab,” he said.
