LAHORE:
Scores photography enthusiasts gathered on Friday for a photo walk and a photography competition organised jointly by the Lahore Photography Club and the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA).
The photo walk on the theme, “Capturing the Spirit of Ramazan”, took place from Delhi Gate to Wazir Khan Masjid. It was led LPC vice chairman Arshad Ghouri.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, LPC chairman Masood Ahmed said the purpose of the event was to test the participants’ creativity and letting them capture the mood in streets of the Walled City during Ramazan. He said the participants were expected to focus on capturing the architecture, the festive mood and religious and cultural practices. He said photographers had been encouraged to work in small groups under supervision of senior photographers.
He said an exhibition of photographs would be held after the organising team had received all submissions. He said selected images would be compiled and published in the form of a book. He said the last date for submissions for a photography competition was July 10th, 2016.
“We request the government to support our cause and help us promote the art of photography in Pakistan. This will help build a soft and better image of the country,” he said.
Ahmed said his organisation was thankful to WCLA Director General Kamran Lashari and WCLA deputy director Tania Qureshi for their continuous support for promotion of photography in the Walled City.
Earlier, Ahmed briefed the participants about rules and regulations of the competition. The briefing took place at the Shahi Hamman.
