KARACHI: Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has directed the board of revenue to take action against officials and employees, including tapedars and assistant mukhtiarkars, involved in corruption and mismanagement.

He reviewed the performance of the board at a meeting at Chief Minister House on Tuesday. The CM stressed the need to improve the department’s performance because the board generates a majority of the province’s income.

Shah said that even though there were a large number of board members, the officials are not sincere in resolving government cases pending in court. “The advocate general has complained that departments are not cooperating with them and if government officials cannot gain the people’s confidence, action will be taken against them,” he added.

The CM suggested that the old status of the board be revived.

All officers must follow the cases in courts and the advocate general should be given details and proof, if required.

Board of revenue members presented reports and assured the CM that their performance will improve. Chief Secretary Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, Aftab Qureshi, Sabhago Khan Jatoi, Qasim Lashari, Nazar and Muhammad Baloch attended the meeting.
