The Punjab University’s (PU’s) Institute of Communication Studies and the Overseas Pakistanis’ Commission (OPC) Punjab on Friday inked an MoU on internship opportunities for the institute’s students. PU Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran and OPC DG Nadeem Sarwar signed the agreement. OPC Vice Chairman Shaheen Khalid Butt, OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, PU Registrar Liaquat Ali, PU External Linkages Director Maria Maldonado, ICS In-charge Noshina Saleem were also present on the occasion. According to the MoU, the institute and the commission would join hands to facilitate the placement of interns. The OPC would facilitate this to introduce young blood and ensure effective execution of national development plans formulated by the commission. The OPC and the PU would also develop non-formal education programmes with students for societal betterment. The two would also organise events such as awareness programmes, seminars, debates and trainings wherein PU and OPC representatives would participate. The interns would be posted across airport to liaise with overseas Pakistanis and facilitate them. They would be presented with certificates on the successful completion of their internships.
