The provincial government has allocated Rs287.6 million for upgrades in existing hospitals and to set up new facilities in the division.
A spokesman of the district administration said eight health facilities - five basic health units and three tehsil headquarters hospitals - would be upgraded.
He said Rs31 million had been allocated for upgrades at the BHU in Karam Daad Qureshi, Rs4.4 million for the BHU in Paharpur, Rs32.5 million for the BHU in Chak 61/A, Rs23.3 million for the establishment of a THQ hospital in Fatehpur.
He said Rs11.6 million had been allocated for the establishment of a trauma centre at the Taunsa Sharif THQ hospital, Rs20 million for the establishment of a cardiology centre at the Rajanpur DHQ hospital, Rs14.2 million for a trauma centre and a dialysis centre at the Muzaffargarh DHQ hospital. He said Rs40 million had been allocated for a cardiac centre at the THQ hospital in Jatoi.
