Kurram Agency's political muharrar arrested for 'threatening' men with arms

Incident caused an uproar across the city as a CCTV footage was aired on TV channels

A former political muharrar of Kurram Agency carrying a fake service card, who allegedly fired at man following a verbal dispute in Peshawar on Thursday evening, was arrested.

The dispute between Imran and the victim took place near Jan Bakery, within the jurisdiction of East Cantt police station.



The incident caused an uproar across the city as a CCTV footage was aired on TV channels, showing an armed man firing and scuffling another.

Two minor boys can also be seen in the video, one of them armed with an automatic rifle, pointing his gun and threatening to shoot.

Talking to The Express Tribune, one of the victims, Rahat, said the incident took place an hour before iftar. The political clerk scuffled with them after a heated exchange of words over the issue of overtaking.

“The boys visible in the footage, who are pointing a gun at me, are his sons,” he said.

East Cantt police lodged an FIR and arrested the Imran, confirmed SP Cantt Kashif Zulfiqar.

“The accused Imran voluntarily surrendered himself to police and has been arrested,” he said.

Zulfiqar added that Imran was on contract and was removed from service three months ago.
