MULTAN:
Two cops accused of stealing a large cache of weapons from the Bhakkar City police station’s armoury on Tuesday were arrested on Thursday, DSP Zafar Buzdar said.

The weapons, 44 pistols, 46 Kalashnikov rifles, two other rifles and six shotguns, were found missing from the police station’s armoury on Tuesday, he said. DPO Khalid Masood had directed police to register a case against two cops, Head Constable Atta Muhammad and Constable Arsalan Jameel, who were reported missing from duty at that time.


Cops accused of land grab

The police registered a case against them under Sections 201, 420, 468 and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code (concealing evidence, cheating, forgery, presenting a forged document as being authentic). They were arrested on Thursday, Buzdar said. He also said that the stolen weapons had been recovered. The DPO said the incident merited thorough investigation. “This is a serious offence…we will disclose more information about it after interrogating the suspects,” he said.
