LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday welcomed Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP’s) decision to work with the Opposition over ToRs for a probe into the Panama Papers revelations.

The party had resolved to continue supporting the Opposition, claiming that was the only way to eradicate financial malpractice. Former governor Chaudhry Sarwar said the entire nation was united against corruption.

Breaking the deadlock: Govt has to accept opposition’s ToRs, says Shah

Denying rumours regards fissures within the Opposition over Panamagate, he said recent reports of the PPP pledging support had further strengthened the anti-government coalition’s resolve.

“If the government does not solve the problem, the Opposition will have no option but to resort to initiating an anti-corruption agitation,” he said.

Sarwar praised the PPP’s decision of supporting the Opposition against the “government’s corruption.” The former governor said any political party that pledged support for the government would be authoring its own obituary. He said an Opposition united against corruption was in the best interest of the nation.

The former PTI Punjab organiser welcomed the PPP’s decision. He exhorted the government to quickly solve the issue lest the Opposition be forced into launching an agitation and secure the people’s verdict.
