Armed suspect at Texas Walmart shot, believed killed

Police described the case in the Texas panhandle city as an incident of workplace-related violence

An armed suspect holding at least one person hostage in an Amarillo Walmart on Tuesday was shot and is apparently dead, the Amarillo Police Department said.

Police described the case in the Texas panhandle city as an incident of workplace-related violence and said the suspect was shot by its SWAT unit.


The hostages inside the store are safe, the police said. No information has been provided on the suspect.

There are no reports of anyone else being injured.
