Cinemas in Peshawar to remain closed during Ramazan
District Nazim says action has been taken after receiving public complaints

Authorities in Peshawar have ordered to shut down all cinemas in the city after receiving public complaints that these were continuing operations during Ramazan.
District Nazim Muhammad Asim Khan directed the administration to close down the cinemas until conclusion of the holy month, said a notice issued on Tuesday.
Threats to burn down cinemas led to ‘Maalik’ ban
Expressing concerns on the screening of objectionable films during the month, Khan told senior superintendent police (SSP) operations and station house officers (SHOs) to ensure closure of theatres in their respective areas.
Seeking a report from the officials in this regard, the Nazim also urged masses to contact the district administration if they faced any further issues relating to screening of films.
Ramazan is considered a sacred month among Muslims wherein fasting is observed from dawn to dusk to inculcate a spirit of piety in oneself.
