Pakistan women’s ODI team captain Sana Mir has expressed her team’s will to go all out against England in the three ODI and three T20I series starting from June 20.

“This series is going to be very important for us for the World Cup qualification,” said Sana. “We are not going to shy away from the fact that we have to go all out in the series. We need to win all three games. We know England is a very tough side. We have to aim higher; it is to qualify for the World Cup.”

We aren't afraid of any team, says Sana Mir

The 30-year-old said the team has practiced well for the series.

“We have prepared really well in the Abbottabad camp,” she said. “We tried to practice in conditions which will be similar to the ones in England. “We are going to play two practice games before the actual series. So, the batters will have to adjust very quickly.”

Sana, who led Pakistan women’s team to two Asian Games gold medals in 2010 and 2014, says she left the T20I team captaincy because it was the right time.

“The team needed a change in leadership; I have been the captain for last seven years so, I think, we have got two more years for the next T20 World Cup and this was the right time for me to step away,” she explained.

On her role in the T20I team, she said: “I will be mentoring now, leading the team not as a captain but as a leader within the team.”

While commenting on the new T20I captain Bismah Maroof, Sana said the all-rounder is hardworking and a leader within the team.

“She is one of the most hardworking players,” said Sana. “She has always led by example. When I talk about the leaders within the team, I count her as one.

She has been in the team for last three to four years and she has been performing and winning matches for the team. So, I think she has got a very good head on her shoulders and I wish her all the best and I am very hopeful she will take the team forward.

The ODIs will be played on June 20, 22 and 27 while the T20Is will take place on July 3, 5 and 7.
