Police recovers huge cache of arms, arrests 35 suspects.
KARACHI:
District West police raided the hideout of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Ehsanullah Mehsud in Mir Muhammad Goth. Although, the commander could not be arrested, a huge cache of arms and ammunitions was recovered from his hideout.
At a press conference held at his office on Monday afternoon, District West SSP Pir Muhammad Shah shared that his team recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrested around 35 suspects during the raid. The raid prevented the suspected militants from carrying out a major terrorist activity during Ramazan.
A large number of law enforcers led by Shah and Orangi divison SP Ali Asif conducted an overnight targeted operation in Mir Muhammad Goth in Sultanabad. According to the police, the entire locality was cordoned off during the operation that lasted at least two hours and they faced no retaliation.
"We have recovered a huge cache of sophisticated weapons from the compound of Mehsud," claimed Shah. "He is a hardcore terrorist and is wanted in numerous cases of terrorism and crime," he added.
The recovered weapons included six rocket-propelled grenades, eight hand grenades, five awan bombs, 40 kilogrammes of explosive chemicals, four sub machineguns, two .223 rifles, three pistols and nearly 5,000 more ammunition. The police also arrested around 35 suspects during the operation. The suspects were moved to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
