Fisticuffs in hangu: District assembly session turns violent

Opposition members submitted an ultimatum of 48 hours to Wapda and Pesco to provide an explanation

HANGU:
The district assembly session in Hangu turned violent due to the absence of the Wapda executive engineer during Monday’s proceedings. The session was held over prolonged power outages and attended by district nazim Mufti Ubaidullah, convener Said Umar Orakzai and assistant commissioner Abdul Ghafoor Shahand among others. The session turned violent after a scuffle broke out between the district nazim and other members. It erupted because a Wapda official failed to attend the session. Ubaidullah said according to the law, letters had been sent to the executive engineer to attend the session, but he failed to show up. Meanwhile, opposition members submitted an ultimatum of 48 hours to Wapda and Pesco to provide an explanation on 18-hour-long power outages.
