Actor Shahid Kapoor, who has been repeatedly praised for his performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Haider, says the fellow Indian film-maker is his Martin Scorsese.

On his upcoming film Rangoon, which features him alongside Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut, Kapoor is once again working with Bhardwaj.

Asked how it felt to work with Bhardwaj again, Shahid shared, “It’s an amazing opportunity to work with Vishal sir who I think is my Martin Scorsese. He has cast me for the third time so, it’s very cool. It’s a really different film and is not mainstream,” IANS quoted Kapoor as saying. “It’s always a pleasure to work with Vishal sir.”

The Jab We Met star’s brother Ishaan is expected to make his Bollywood debut soon. Asked about his brother’s Bollywood plans, Shahid added, “He will be doing something at some point. What he is doing and what he is not is not my jurisdiction. Let him talk.”

Shahid’s other forthcoming film, Udta Punjab, recently ran into trouble with Indian censors for its excessive use of swearing and portrayal of drug abuse. Speaking about this, Shahid clarified, “We are hoping for the best. It’s on course and not banned as is being reported.”

Talking further, he added that he hopes people will understand the larger message instead of focusing on minute things. “I am being optimistic. Haider got released. I felt extremely proud of our country and the fact that we were able to talk about issues,” Mumbai Mirror quoted him as saying.
