Zayn Malik pulled out of a performance at Capital FM's Summertime Ball in London due to "the worst anxiety" of his career.

The Pillowtalk singer took to Instagram to tell his fans, "my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me... With the magnitude of the event I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career."

The former One Direction member apologized to his fans and promised to do his best to make it up to them.

"I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope those who don't, can empathize with my situation," he added.

Singer Ellie Goulding reached out to Zayn to share her empathy.
