Irregularities decried: Complaints surface against AWKUM vice chancellor
Academic staff association appealed for action
PESHAWAR:
Federation of All Pakistan Academic Staff Association has requested that Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ihsan Ali be stopped from misusing his powers.
This was mentioned in a press release issued on Saturday.
A member of the association, Dr Humayun, was quoted as saying Ali has illegally cancelled the membership of three professors from the Senate and Syndicate of the university so that he could become an emeritus. An emeritus is a retired professor who can remain a professor even after they stop teaching. Humayun accused Ali of misusing his powers and illegally promoting people to the Syndicate on the basis of favoritism.
The association member said Ali has violated merit during his tenure the government and authorities concerned have given him a free hand.
Humayun said if the government did not stop the VC from irregularities, they will take to the streets. He added his association and Higher Education Commission intervened, but Ali did not lend an ear to them.
The press release read other members of the association have also asked the authorities concern to stop the VC from irregularities or they have the right to close all the universities in K-P and launch a “Go VC Go” movement across the province.
