BAHALWALPUR: An eight-year-old girl was assaulted and later killed by two men in Ahmadpur East on Thursday.

A Saddar police spokesman said father of the deceased had told them that he was working in the fields in village Aliwala with two colleagues when his daughter brought them food. He said he believed that his colleagues had abducted his daughter she left.

He said they took her to a deserted house where they had assaulted her, taken away her earrings and later killed her.

He said they dumped her body in a ditch.

The spokesman said the father had learnt in the evening that his daughter was missing.

He said a team formed by the villagers to look for the girl had found the body in the ditch. The spokesman said an FIR had been registered against the man’s colleagues on his complaint.

He said the body had been sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. He said police would arrest the suspects once the autopsy report was available.

Suicide

Two women committed suicide after being scolded by their parents on Friday.

A police spokesman said an 18-year-old resident of Labour Colony and a 21-year-old resident of Khanpur had swallowed poison after they were scolded by their parents. He said they were taken to a hospital where they died.
