An attempt to snatch the purse of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member National Assembly (MNA) Seema Mohiuddin was foiled here on Wednesday evening.

The parliamentarian said that she had just finished inspecting Ramazan Sasta Bazaar, set up at Nawaz Sharif Park, when two motorcyclists tried to snatch her purse, but on her resistance, the attempt was foiled, and the robbers escaped from the scene.

She, while expressing her concern over the situation called for enhancing security arrangements to curb crime and provide security to the area residents and shoppers.

Last month, locals and passers-by in Islamabad caught a purse snatcher red-handed and handed him over to the police.


Police said the suspect was also tortured by the people before the police arrived and arrested him.

Ghauri Town phase 4-A. Koral SHO Abdul Majeed told The Express Tribune that suspect, who was around 21 years old had been tortured by the people. Majeed said a case had not been registered yet.

“The suspect is in police custody and we are investigating the matter,” said the SHO. A Ghauri Town resident said the family whose purse the suspect tried to snatch refused to become complainant in the case.
