Express January 31, 2011

The New Year has brought forth a myriad of events around the world; from the Filmfare Awards, to the Sundance Film Festival, the acclaimed Oscar nominees and last but not the least the hype that follows and awaits the Cricket World Cup to begin.

It’s hard to believe that the year has only just begun. It’s only January and so much is happening around the globe so fast that it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep pace.

While our last weeks post kept the nation on track with the World Cup Song, this week it appears that the song has broken patriotic grounds with Ali Zafar’s refreshing track. An excited Ali Zafar updated his fans earlier with an excited tweet that ran, “World cup songs released!”

And for all those fans who think that Zafar has drawn the line with his latest release, the unrelenting singer tweets again with more exciting news. “The first world cup song video released. Another one with Pepsi to come soon.”

However, Ali Zafar is not the celebrity from the sub continent pushing barriers. Bollywood hearthtob Salman Khan who has swept through many an award ceremony with his blockbuster, Dabangg pioneered another launch as well.

Khan recently launched luxury watches named after his Being Human charitable foundation and has now inaugurated an exclusive online store to sell them.

“Oh! I forgot to tell you that now Being Human watches are on sale online - www.beinghumanwatches.com,” Salman posted on Twitter.

Apart from luxury watches, his foundation also churns out tee-shirts which will also be soon available online. “Yes for sure, Being Human tee shirts are also going to be online soon,” said his most recent tweet on the micro blogging site.

While Khan draws on to future plans to expand his brand, Hrithik Roshan braces his nerves before the Filmfare Awards and Amitabh Bachchan thanks his fans for their support after the event.

Let’s take a look at this week’s top ten tweets.
