PESHAWAR: A notification issued by the government last week to handover water and sanitation responsibilities to Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has been withdrawn. The earlier notification was issued from the chief minister’s office on June 7.

According to the earlier notification, sanitation and water services in areas such as Hayatabad, University Town, Ring Road, and GT Road to Jamrud were to be managed by PDA instead of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP). Minister for Local Government Inayatullah and WSSP Chief Executive Officer Naeemullah were present at a meeting which reached this decision.

While talking to The Express Tribune, WSSP Spokesperson Taimoor Shah said the notification issued from the CM’s office was discussed in the meeting and, after intense discussions, withdrawn. Meanwhile, members of the meeting stressed on the improvement of WSSP’s performance, the handout read. It was stated the CM will overlook the performance of WSSP in the upcoming meeting.
