LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) was moved on Wednesday against the paucity of adequate healthcare facilities across public hospitals city-wide.

Citizen Liaquat Ali, the petitioner, said the underprivileged were not provided free medicines across public health facilities. He said doctors and other staff coerced such individuals into frequenting private establishments and pharmacies in exchange for commission. The petitioner said it seemed that the Orange Line Metro Train project was being carried out at the expense of public health. He requested the court to direct health officials to routinely conduct surprise inspections across public hospitals to ensure best standards. The petitioner said a one-window operation ought to be established across facilities to address citizens’ complaints. He said hospital administrators ought to be directed to ensure the provision of free medicines across such facilities.
