Prof Wahidur Rehman’s family to get pension, decides KU
The selection board for Karachi University Business School was also approved along with appointments of eight teachers
KARACHI:
University of Karachi's (KU) syndicate approved the provision of pension and house rent for five-years to the widow of slain assistant professor Dr Wahidur Rehman, alias Yasir Rizvi, more than a year after this death.
This was decided at the KU syndicate meeting held on Monday, which was chaired by varsity's vice-chacellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser. It also approved the motions put forward during the last syndicate meeting, held on January 9, this year.
Dr Haris Shoaib became the syndicate nominee for the position of board of governor of National Nematological Research Centre, KU. Syndicate also nominated Dr Khalid Iraqi to become a member of KU discipline committee.
The selection board for Karachi University Business School was also approved along with appointments of eight teachers.
The teaching departments appointments include Dr Nasir Suleman in special education department, Dr Shahnaz Ghazi in Quran o Sunnah, Dr Dilshad Waqar in chemistry, Dr Seemi Naghmana in mass communication, Dr Shahid Mehmood in physics, Dr Tanzeemul Firdous in Urdu, Dr Asad Saeed in food science and technology, Dr Shaista Tabbassum in international relations while Dr Obaid Yousuf was appointed the chairperson of genetics department.
Alongside, a centre for digital forensic science and technology and Karachi University Hashwani Hospital will also be established after the approval of the syndicate.
