Buner attack repulsed: Several militants, two soldiers killed  

Suspected militant hideouts were also shelled. Subsequently, all routes from Buner to Elum Mountain have been closed

PESHAWAR: At least two security men were killed and another injured during an attack by militants in Buner on Sunday. Following the attack, security officials launched a search operation in Elum Mountain area of the district. Officials said that an unidentified number of militants attacked security forces on Monday. A number of militants were killed as the assault was repulsed. However the attack left Naib Subedar (Junior Commission officer) Waheed and Lance Naik Manzoor dead. Their bodies were taken to their native villages whereas the injured official was admitted in hospital. Following the attack, officials launched a search operation in the area. Suspected militant hideouts were also shelled. Subsequently, all routes from Buner to Elum Mountain have been closed while a high alert has been declared in the district. Officials also said that some clashes took place at the base of Elum Mountain near Jawar town in Buner district when armed militants resisted security forces during the search operation in the area.
